Report: Liverpool 4-0 Brighton

Liverpool wrapped up fourth place and the final spot in next season’s Champions League with a convincing 4-0 thumping of Brighton & Hove Albion on the final day of the season.

Mohamed Salah set a new Premier League record by scoring his 32nd goal in a 38-game campaign to get the ball rolling on 26 minutes for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

It was an impressive performance from the Reds who have played their final game before the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev on Saturday 26 May.

Goals from Dejan Lovren (40′), Dominic Solanke (53′) and Andy Robertson (85′) saw Liverpool run out emphatic winners in front of an excited Anfield crowd on Sunday afternoon.

Following the game Mohamed Salah collected the Premier League Golden Boot award as well as Liverpool’s Player of the Year trophy.

Victory for the Reds means they will play in next season’s Champions League regardless of their result in the final in a fortnight’s time.

Brighton had already confirmed their Premier League status with victory over Manchester United at the start of the month before holding Manchester City to a 0-0 draw midweek.  The Seagulls end their debut Premier League campaign in 15th place.
